I don't know what it is, but almost every kit I see like these, the wheels just look awful.
And I don't mean the style of the wheel, but the stance of the vehicle always looks a little jacked up, a little too much wheel well, or maybe the tires are too lo-pro or something. But it doesn't seem to fill the arches quite right.
Though the kit itself looks kinda fun.

You're right. I hope it's the profile of the tires and size of the rims, but fear it may be a more difficult problem to solve.

The Miata's wheelbase is really weird in comparison to how wide it is. It's short and fat for a classic roadster, and short and narrow for a sports car. For example, it's a few inches longer than a classic 911 or 240z, but like, 5 inches wider I think. Fitting a kit's dimensions to that while also working the the weird bulgy-fender design is probably very difficult.
Just my two cents.
